The Elkville String Bands' latest project, "Over The Mountain" on the Mountain Roads Recordings label, is a collection of 15 songs that really showcase the talents of some great singers and musicians

Four of the tracks are instrumentals written by members of the band and the balance are songs originally recorded before 1943.

Jeff Michael, who is featured on most of the lead vocals, also plays mandolin, clawhammer banjo & fiddle on some tracks and a fantastic Scruggs/Reno style banjo on the others.

The other vocalists and musicians are Herb Key on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Drake Walsh on fiddle, mandolin & lead vocals, Bill Williams on upright bass, Martin acoustic bass & harmony vocals and award-winning Wayne Henderson also plays lead guitar on four tracks.

Some of the featured tracks are "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere", "Indian Princess", "Where The Roses Never Fade", "Otto Wood", "The Elkville Shuffle", "Cindy" and "Shall We Gather At The River"

This is an excellent project that will be enjoyed by all
